Ian Cumberland
Ian Cumberland (b. 1983) is a Belfast-based visual artist. His work blends hyperrealism, theatricality, and societal critique, distorting normality to explore how societal constructs shape our perceptions. Engaging with themes like isolation, consumerism, and digital reality, he challenges how appearances can obscure truth.
Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Presence in Absence’ at JD Malat Gallery, London (2020), ‘A Common Fiction’ at Josef Filipp Galerie, Leipzig, Germany (2019) and Golden Thread gallery, Belfast (2018). His work resides in public collections both nationally and internationally.
