QSS delighted to host CS Lewis Festival Events

Born and bred in east Belfast, CS Lewis was one of the intellectual giants of the 20th century. His major contributions in literary criticism, children’s literature, fantasy literature, and popular theology brought him international renown and acclaim.

The CS Lewis Festival celebrates the legacy of Lewis through themes of storytelling, imagination and spirituality with events including talks, lectures and tours, exhibitions, workshops, theatre, poetry and spoken word events and film screenings.

QSS are delighted to host the following 2019 festival events:

Children & Young Adult Publishing Panel – Saturday, 23 November 2019 from 11:00-13:00

Join award-winning children’s and YA authors Myra Zepf and Kelly McCaughrain, plus Grainne Clear of Walker Books as they give honest advice and insight into the world of children’s and YA publishing and answer all your questions about writing and publishing books for young people.

Beyond the Wardrobe with Woman Aloud NI – Saturday, 23 November 2019 from 12:30-14:30

Join Women Aloud NI as our writers take you on a journey beyond the wardrobe. In this showcase of Children and Young Adult writers you will be treated to readings from books and/or works in progress, highlighting the diversity of contemporary female voices within this genre. The readers will take you into other worlds of the sub-genres and beyond, before bringing you back through the wardrobe. Everyone is welcome because, let’s face it, you’re never too old for a good story!

The Imagination Lectures with Pádraig Ó Tuama & Jan Carson – Sunday, 24 November 2019 from 16:00-17:00

Tenx9 founder, poet and theologian Pádraig Ó Tuama and festival Curator Jan Carson will deliver two short lectures exploring the theme of imagination. Where does imagination come from? How can we make the most of our imagination? What is the relationship between imagination and art? Join us for an hour of stimulating thought and discussion.
