We are delighted to hear that QSS member Clare French is showing with RNOP (Reductive Non Objective Project) and KNO (Kyiv Non Objective) at the Ukrainian Musem of Contemporary Art, as part of ‘Szilvashi Circles’; the first museum retrospective of the work of Tiberiy Szilvashi.
The first museum retrospective of Tiberius Silvashi presents his practices in development: in different contexts, media, and with projects that changed or were not realized. Together with Silvasha’s works, the works of 86 authors will be presented on the five floors of the Ukrainian House. The curatorial team of the new UMCA exhibition included Lidia Apollonova, Olga Balashova, Anna-Maria Kucherenko, Borys Filonenko and Yaroslav Futymskyi .
“Tiberius Silvashi is an anchor figure of modern Ukrainian art. A painter, theoretician and curator, he unites artists of three generations around him. His artistic practices, texts, collective projects and personal communication with the participants of the cultural field became decisive for the formation of the Ukrainian artistic landscape as it is today,” the curators of the exhibition note in the opening statement.
